The Shibari Perspective: Art or Sensuality

Moderator: Mary Foxworth, sexologist and founder of Foxworth Institute

Artist: Hajime Kinoko, Steve Freeman, Nawa Shishi.

Organiser: Debbie Bailey, MeART

The conversation will examine the stigma around Shibari and its evolution. We will explore the line between art and sensuality, analysing how expression defines Shibari as an art form. While some see it as sensual  pleasure, others appreciate its visual presentation and craftsmanship. This discussion aims to include all perspectives, acknowledging both the intimate connection between artist and subject and Shibari’s aesthetic appeal. By engaging in this dialogue, we hope to challenge sexual stigmas and encourage a nuanced understanding of Shibari as either an art form, a medium for sensual expression, or both. Ultimately, this exploration invites us to reconsider our perceptions of Shibari and appreciate its multifaceted nature.

This is an open public event, but space is limited.
